Smoky Mezcal American Shrimp

We join Chef Ludo in the kitchen as he prepares his smoky mezcal American shrimp. Shrimp lovers, this delicious seafood dish is for you! This recipe is presented to you by Wixter Seafood and Chef Ludo Lefebvre. 


1 pound uncooked Wixter American Shrimp

2 tablespoons vegetable oil or grapeseed oil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh garlic
2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro
Fleur de sel
2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) unsalted butter
1 lime juice
4 tablespoons good-quality Mezcal
Freshly ground black pepper


STEP 1: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
STEP 2: Season shrimp with fleur de sel.
STEP 3: Add the butter; lower heat to medium.
STEP 4: Add shrimp and cook, shaking pan, until cooked through, about 2 minutes.
STEP 5: Add garlic. Remove skillet from heat. Add Mezcal, stir to coat.
STEP 6: Season shrimp to taste with fleur de sel, black pepper, add cilantro and lime juice.
